Every year MCAD hosts Admitted Student Day, an event for students who have just been accepted into the school. The identity system for this event spans many different forms and is consumed sequentially. It begins with an acceptance envelope containing a sticker sheet and branded letterhead, followed later by a formal invitation to the event. Upon arrival, students receive a Admitted Student branded paraphernalia, extending the identity into physical artifacts. The branding carries through environmental signage and digital monitors, creating continuity across print, object, and space.
The identity system was inspired by vintage botanical archiving. I positioned the identity as both rooted in academic tradition and forward-looking in its design expression.
Design Refrence
While researching I came across these specimen scans on wikipedia. I was interested in the arranged nature of their compositions. This influenced the general direction aswell as more specific assets of the design such as the yellow label and “type” plant classification.
